Opera Theatre Of Saint Louis

 In Culture, Feature

Opera may connote outdated and genteel, but the programming at Opera Theatre Of Saint Louis couldn’t be further opposite. As an internationally renowned opera company, Opera Theatre brings audience members from 45 states and 12 foreign countries annually.

One of Opera Theatre’s signature programs is an event series called Opera Tastings, catering to the opera uninitiated. For tickets in the $20-$25 price point, attendees hear a selection of English-language arias from several Opera Theatre singers who will appear in full-length productions during the regular season, lasting 80 minutes. Guests also enjoy drinks and appetizers crafted by acclaimed local chefs, inspired by each piece of music performed, to complement the experience. It’s the perfect way for guests to sample the emotional power of this kind of live singing before deciding to invest in a longer main-stage production, or season tickets.

This year’s main season productions will be “La Traviata,” “Regina,” “An American Soldier,” “Orfeo ed Euridice,” and the annual Center Stage Show, which showcases the talents of emerging opera singers from all over the country.
