Craft Alliance Collaborates with UCBC for 10th Anniversary Exhibition

 In Culture, Event

In 2008, Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design opened its Grand Avenue location (the organization holds a second location on Delmar Blvd.) welcoming artists from around the country who work with craft materials for residencies where they create, participate in programming and more. On Aug. 24, the center will celebrate 10 years by hosting an anniversary show featuring a survey of work by artists from over the years.

Craft Alliance offers three residencies to artists. Its community artists residency encourages artists to work with local students to develop a permanent, public artwork. The Craft Alliance and Techshop residency invites artists to take part in a partnership with the two entities by teaching. Last, it offers a studio-artist residency that provides space for artists to further their work. Current residents are Lindsay Pichaske, Sajeda Issa and Malaika Tolford.

In October, Craft Alliance will partner with Urban Chestnut Brewing Company (UCBC) for an event titled “Rough Draft.” Taking place at the brewery’s bierhall in The Grove, attendees will taste from beer steins crafted by artists featured in the exhibition, participate in artist demos and have the opportunity to shop items from a pop-up maker’s market.

The 10-year anniversary exhibition will run from Aug. 24 through Oct. 21 at the Grand Center location. “Rough Draft” will take place on Oct. 18. For more information, visit Craft Alliance’s website.
