A First Look at Wild Carrot Event Space in St. Louis’ Shaw Neighborhood
Just in time for wedding season, Wild Carrot Event Space in St. Louis’ hip Shaw neighborhood is a feast of modern design for the contemporary eye, complete with exposed-brick walls and an industrial ceiling, reminiscent of the building’s historic beauty. It was completed in 1915, as the Shaw Theatre, and was recently transformed into a stunning new event space, perfect for weddings, receptions and large events. Proprietors Casey and Laura Bunch worked on the space for four years, delicately revitalizing an end result that works in new, sleek elements—like an elegant bar in the middle of the room—while maintaining memorable design elements that made the venue special to begin with.
While the space works well for private events, it’s also large enough to host larger public events, like fashion shows, pop-up events, music performances, art shows and more, which the Bunch’s had in mind from the beginning. Wild Carrot also makes use of, and complements, the surrounding Shaw neighborhood, contributing to the reinvigorated neighborhood’s creative, Bohemian feel. Just a few blocks from Tower Grove Park, a South City favorite, Wild Carrot comes alive this spring to showcase the beauty that can exist in what once was.
