Usually juggling multiple garment bags, shopping bags and fashion-related projects, Jill Manoff, ALIVE's Fashion Editor since 2004, loves that there is no "typical day" at work. In addition to styling editorials and writing fashion-focused articles for ALIVE, she can often be found perfecting content and planning photo shoots as Executive Editor of online publication Corridor40, which she co-founded in May of 2009. On the side, she works as a freelance fashion show producer, freelance fashion writer and freelance stylist for such companies as Bakers Footwear and The Scholarshop, and you can catch her on TV as a fashion correspondent on Fox2 News in the Morning. While she has long called seasonally attending New York Fashion Week her biggest job perk, her exciting new gig- styling model test shoots both in STL and outside markets- is already a close second.

While my last week was consumed with styling a campaign and not working Saint Louis Fashion Week, the five all-day photo shoots in six days had very similar ramifications; all else was put on hold, and I succeeded in using curse words (directed at the same person as during Fashion Week, actually—sorry, man), crying (just once!) and looking seriously strung-out. Thanks to my love of frequenting tag Timeless Authentic Garments (6314 Delmar Blvd., The Loop, 314.721.1370) for both styling and shopping purposes (personal tag purchases have included leopard-print tuxedo pants and a to-die floor-length dress heavy in accordion pleats), I have gotten to know shopgirl Laney Stout so well that a day on-task inevitably goes in the crapper the minute I walk through the door of her Delmar store.… more …

Trendspotting: 10 Looks I’m Loving Right Now

People handle stress in different ways. When I have a bad day, I don’t often cry or yell; instead, I flop my bottom in front of my computer and immerse myself in fashion for hours. It takes my mind off of things, and “the feelings” cancel out the blahs. Today, my much-needed fashion-slash-therapy session went way long, but—I must say—it was highly effective; thanks to my having the afternoon blues, you have an elaborate trend report. Downtown…Everything’s Waiting For You

I’m a city snob. I try not to be, honest. But since I live Downtown and play and dine there more than any other area of St. Louis, it’s hard not to be. I grew up in the ‘burbs,’ moving around with my family from one military base to another every few years. Every block was identical to the next, where cookie-cutter houses with manicured yards spattered every street in every city we moved, whether we were in Tuscan, Monterey or Heidelberg, Germany.
